Hearty Baked Beans (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Main Ingredients

01 - 1 pound ground beef
02 - 1 tablespoon olive oil
03 - 1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
04 - ½ medium onion, finely chopped
05 - 3 cans (22 oz each) baked beans

→ Seasonings & Flavor

06 - 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
07 - ¾ tablespoon yellow mustard
08 - ½ tablespoon brown sugar
09 - ½ tablespoon hot sauce
10 - Salt and black pepper to taste

# Instructions:

01 - Heat a large pot over medium-high heat and cook the ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon, until it's completely browned and no pink remains. Drain any excess grease and set the cooked beef aside.
02 - Add olive oil to the same pot and heat over medium heat. Toss in the diced bell pepper and onion, cooking them until the pepper becomes tender and the onion turns translucent, about 5-7 minutes.
03 - Return the cooked beef to the pot and add the baked beans, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, brown sugar, and hot sauce. Stir everything together until well combined, then season with salt and pepper to your liking.
04 - Cover the pot and let it simmer on low heat for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking. The beans should be heated through and the flavors nicely blended. Serve hot and enjoy!

# Notes:

01 - Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days or freeze for up to 3 months
02 - For a smaller batch, use 2 cans (16 oz each) of baked beans and cut all other ingredients in half
03 - Stir occasionally while cooking to prevent the beans from sticking to the bottom
04 - For extra smoky flavor, add crumbled bacon and cook the vegetables in bacon grease
05 - This recipe can also be made in a slow cooker on high for 1 hour or low for 2-3 hours
06 - Oven method: Bake at 350°F in a Dutch oven until heated through and bubbly
