Easy Homemade Cinnamon Toast (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Cinnamon Sugar Spread

01 - 1/4 cup (56g) softened salted butter
02 - 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
03 - 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
04 - 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

→ Base

05 - 4 slices sandwich bread (hearty wheat works great)

# Instructions:

01 - Get your oven nice and warm at 350°F. Place your bread slices on a baking sheet that can handle the broiler. No need for parchment or greasing.
02 - In a bowl, stir together the softened butter, sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla until you get a smooth, uniform paste. This is where all the flavor comes from!
03 - Spread the cinnamon butter mixture generously across each slice of bread, making sure to cover from edge to edge. Don't skimp here!
04 - Place the baking sheet in the top half of your oven (but keep it at least 5 inches from the broiler). Bake for about 10 minutes until the bread gets slightly crispy around the edges.
05 - Switch your oven to high broil and watch carefully as the cinnamon sugar bubbles and caramelizes, about 1-2 minutes. Stay right there watching - this part goes quickly and can burn in seconds!
06 - Let the toast cool for just a minute or two, then slice and enjoy while still warm and crispy.

# Notes:

01 - This cinnamon toast has the perfect balance of crispy edges and a gooey, caramelized cinnamon-sugar topping.
02 - If using unsalted butter, add a pinch (about 1/8 teaspoon) of salt to the mixture.
03 - Most types of sandwich bread work well, but hearty wheat bread adds a nice nutty flavor.
