Bird Dog Sandwiches (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Special Sauce

01 - ½ cup creamy mayonnaise
02 - 2 tablespoons smoky barbecue sauce
03 - 2 tablespoons pure honey
04 - 1 tablespoon classic yellow mustard
05 - ½ tablespoon Dijon mustard
06 - ½ tablespoon fresh lemon juice

→ Main Components

07 - 4 extra-large breaded chicken tenders
08 - 4 slices thick-cut bacon
09 - 4 brioche hot dog buns

→ Fresh Toppings

10 - Fresh romaine lettuce, shredded
11 - Ripe Roma tomatoes, thinly sliced
12 - Red onion, thinly sliced
13 - Dill pickle chips
14 - Freshly cracked black pepper

# Instructions:

01 - In a small bowl, whisk together the mayo, barbecue sauce, honey, both mustards, and lemon juice until smooth. Cover and refrigerate while you prepare everything else - this helps the flavors meld together beautifully.
02 - Prepare your chicken tenders according to the package instructions. An air fryer works wonderfully for getting them extra crispy. Once they're golden and cooked through, lightly toast your buns for about a minute.
03 - Cook the bacon slices in your preferred method - oven, skillet, or air fryer - until they're perfectly crispy. Drain them on paper towels to remove excess grease.
04 - Generously spread the sauce on both sides of each toasted bun. Layer in the hot chicken tenders, crispy bacon, fresh lettuce, onion slices, tomato, and pickles.
05 - Top with a few grinds of fresh black pepper and drizzle any extra sauce over the top if you're feeling indulgent. Serve immediately while everything is warm and crispy.

# Notes:

01 - The sauce is absolutely essential - it's what makes these sandwiches truly special. It gets even better after chilling for an hour.
02 - Feel free to add cheese if you'd like - just melt it on the bun before adding the other toppings.
03 - Double the sauce recipe if you want extra for drizzling - you won't regret it!
