Crispy Homemade Apple Chips (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Crispy Apple Base

01 - 2 firm, medium-size apples (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith work beautifully)
02 - 2 teaspoons of granulated sugar
03 - ½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon
04 - A small pinch of freshly grated nutmeg

# Instructions:

01 - Heat your oven to a low and slow 225°F (107°C). This gentle heat will dry out the apples without burning them.
02 - Using a sharp knife, cut your apples into very thin rings, about 1/8 inch thick or less. Keep the core in for a pretty presentation, or remove it if you prefer. The thinner you slice, the crispier your chips will be!
03 - Lay out your apple slices in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet, making sure they don't overlap.
04 - In a small bowl, whisk together the sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well combined. Sprinkle this fragrant mixture evenly over your apple rings.
05 - Place your baking sheet in the oven and let the magic happen slowly, about 1½ to 2 hours. You'll know they're ready when the edges curl slightly and the slices feel crisp to the touch. Every oven is different, so start checking after the 1-hour mark.

# Notes:

01 - These homemade apple chips are not only delicious but also much more affordable than store-bought versions.
02 - For extra crispness, let the chips cool completely on the baking sheet before storing.
03 - Try these crunchy bites sprinkled over salads, oatmeal, or yogurt for added texture.
